Glulam Building Examples

Example One  approx. 15-30m width

Three part trusses are usually carried out as a truss made with rafters of straight glulam elements and ceiling joists of either glulam or steel. They are used for spans where trusses made of ordinary timber are not enough. A frame with a three part truss gives free spans and full freedom in the disposition of interior and inside constructions. This flexibility can be very valuable if the function of the building would change later on. The assembly requires mobile crane. Common roof angel is 14-30 degrees. A suitable building width is about 15-30 meters.

 

Example Two approx. 30-70m width

Three part trusses with tensioning support underneath are carried out as a truss with rafters of straight glulam elements and ceiling joists of either glulam or steel. This type of truss offers free spans and full freedom in the disposition of the area.  The assembly requires mobile crane. Common roof angel is 14-20 degrees. A suitable building width is about 30-70 meters.

 

Example Three approx. 15-35m width

 

The glulam frame consists in its easiest and most commonly form of freely installed double supported beams on columns. The column and beam system is easy to assemble and requires no particular experience of construction work. An ordinary loader is usually enough to lift the construction elements in place. A suitable building width is about 15-35 meters.

 

 Example Four approx. 12-30m width

 A construction with a beam and ridge system requires a site-built stud wall alternatively a form of element wall. This frame type is even easier to assemble than frame type 2. The construction is especially suitable for cold halls and buildings since it is very easy to build an effective moisture barrier in the roof. The frame type also facilitates the insulation. A suitable building width is about 12-30 meter.

 

Example Five approx. 10-30m width

offers a free span with the possibility of great variation of opportunities. An example is to make a part of the frame thermally insulated and let the remaining part be cold. This can be useful in for instance machine halls with a workshop part. A suitable building width is about 10-30 meters

 

Example Six approx. 10-25m width

 An uncomplicated and easy assembled frame, usually with a span width up to 24 meters. Roof angle 3-6 degrees. A suitable building width is about 10-25 meters.

 

 Example Seven approx. 20m and wider

A truss beam is a system of trusses connected in ties into a bearing construction. Wooden truss beams are usually used as freely installed double supported beams. A glulam truss beam is an aesthetic appealing construction with advantages in the installation of the ventilation through the roof frame for example, and it also offers many options of roof angles. A suitable building width is about 20 meters and wider.

 

Example Eight approx. widths up to 60m with few supports

A natural choice when looking for large span widths up to 60 meters with a few number of supporting columns. Suitable roof angel is 3-7 degrees. As an alternative to the added beam in the center section, a truss beam can be used to ease the installing of ventilation for example.

 

 Example Nine approx. 12-25m

The construction is directly stabilized by the frame against wind towards the long side. The solution is traditional and well tested in agriculture. From optimized dimensions a price effective frame relatively easy to install is received. Roof angel 25-45 degrees. A suitable building width is about 12-25 meters.

 

Example Ten approx. 10-16m widthFrame type suitable for commercial buildings, sports halls and smaller horseback riding facilities for example. With rigid fixed corners created with forging plates in the connection between the column and the beam makes the construction open and free from supporting columns. With internal rafters between the frames it is possible to use sandwich panels as a roof solution for example. A suitable building width is about 10-16 meters.
